Friday night dinner summary
Hello!
We headed down to town (which literally is something like
three long flights of stairs, which Robert HATES
doing! [I don’t mind going down; it’s
the up part that hurts. – R]) a little after 6 pm. I wanted to make sure that I hit Liz’s Cupcakes before they closed for
the night. The street it and a
recommended restaurant were on was truly at the bottom of the steps.
We just had to turn right. Lovely street, lined with restaurants and
shops, many still open, although most of the restaurants not yet open for
dinner (Europeans, as we know, liking to eat later than we “early”
Americans.)

Found the proposed restaurant first and it looked a bit
small and cramped to both of us. (And I’m
not sure, but I believe the proprietor was smoking at the “family” table
inside.) Then found Liz’s. It’s a very cute shop
– lots of pink, and they even had a few cupcakes left.
We bought three, as well as a little bag of
meringues that looked interesting. Then,
as we were heading out, I suggested that we might want to try 3Sixty again, as their salad menu look
really good, and not at all as prehistoric as the slab of pork R had on
Thursday.

Also, we knew the place would be open and smoke-free, which are
two BIG selling points, for
sure. In we went, and were seating
quickly.
This time, we ordered an
appetizer – cheese and bacon straws, again in dough wrappers. The chef obviously likes that concept, which
is fine with us. Our basket of four
cheese/bacon straws (the size of spring rolls!) came out quickly, with a
sort-of BBQ sauce for dipping.

Then, back up all those stairs and we’re in for the
night! Oh, and I tried one of the
cupcakes for dessert once we got back to the room. It was a bit stale, really, and certainly not
the best I’ve had – but as R says, it’s probably the closest cupcake for
hundreds of miles, so I enjoyed it!
More later!
